Dear Reconnect Family,
We want to touch on something that is on all our minds—the senseless death of George Floyd. His was the latest in a long stream of needless Black deaths—Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michelle Cusseaux, Philando Castile, Botham Jean, Dominique Clayton, Tamir Rice, and myriad others. It has left us, along with countless others, heartbroken and angry.
Reconnect believes that we—as a company and individuals—have an ethical obligation to stand against injustice and the systemic oppression of Black people in America. We unequivocally condemn it. Reconnect also believes that we have a responsibility to be part of positive change for the future—it’s in our mission and we strive to do that every day in our work.
Right now, as a company, we’re listening to the voices of the Black community. We’re doing our best to understand the legitimate pain and frustration and to learn from it. We’re also increasing Reconnect’s charitable contribution matching benefit for employees and ensuring that our employees have the support and time off to engage or reflect on this moment as they need.
Even though this is a bleak time, we must hope that if we come together as a community, listen, learn, and demand specific reforms this can be a moment that leads to true transformation in America. In the meantime, we stand with the Black community. #BlackLivesMatter
Sincerely,
The Reconnect Team
