Janel McFeat is the Executive Director of the Washington Statewide Reentry Council, where she leads efforts to transform reentry through restorative and humane practices. A Jamestown S’Klallam descendant with 25 years of experience, Janel’s career began in Tacoma working with youth and evolved into developing nationally recognized reentry programs, including the Welcome Home Program for the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe. Her innovative, trauma-informed approach reduced recidivism by over 80% and earned her the Champions of Justice Award.

Janel is a Certified Trauma-Informed Trainer and Restorative Circle Practitioner whose work is deeply rooted in her Native American and Swedish heritage. She holds a B.A. in Social Work from Pacific Lutheran University and has been honored as a White House Champion for Change nominee and recipient of the Linda Gabriel Human Rights Award. Through her leadership, Janel continues to advocate for equitable reentry systems that prioritize human dignity and public safety.
