In this episode of Justice Speaks, JSI continues their series of interviews with State Drug Court Coordinators. Featured in this edition is Mr. Gray Barton, the Director of Problem-Solving Courts for the state of Maryland.

Director Gray Barton

Barton, originally from Alexandria, VA, embarked on his professional journey in Western Maryland as a counselor in a wilderness program for troubled youths. His dedication to helping others led him to serve as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor at the Maryland Department of Juvenile Justice. Following this, a former supervisor recognized his talent and invited him to Ohio, where he played a pivotal role in establishing and managing the new misdemeanor Drug Courts.

After two decades of impactful work in Ohio, Barton returned to Maryland, where he became the Director of State Treatment Courts. With over two decades of experience in the field, Barton continues to make significant contributions to the rehabilitation and support of individuals battling substance abuse issues.
