Get to Know Judge Bradley
Judge Denise Bradley has served the citizens of Harris County, Texas both as an assistant district attorney and judge for over 32 years. As a prosecutor, she tried over 200 cases, including three capital murder cases related to the deaths of Houston police officers. As a prosecutor, she also volunteered for many years with the Success Through Addiction Recovery (STAR) program, the Adult Felony Drug Court.
In 2010, she became the Judge of the 262nd District Court, where she continued her work in the treatment courts. In 2011 Governor Perry appointed Bradley to the Specialty Courts Advisory Council to oversee grant funding for Specialty Courts throughout the state of Texas. Bradley also helped create the RIC (Responsive Intervention for Change) Docket with a grant from the MacArthur foundation. This unique docket expands therapeutic treatment to all low-level drug offenses in Harris County.
Bradley is a frequent speaker on topics related to the criminal justice system and treatment courts. In 2016, Judge Bradley received the Visionary Leader Award from Santa Maria Hostel for her work with women and children in drug court. In 2021 Judge Bradley received the Alumnae Public Service Award from her law school for her work in the community.
Since her retirement from the bench in 2018, she has continued her commitment to public service as a consultant for Fort Bend County’s E.N.D. Court. Judge Bradley also frequently sits as a visiting judge.
