Whether the participant calls-in or checks-in via the app, an entry is made in the Reconnect Program allowing myself and our program case manager to monitor the daily drug testing calendar and see which participants ‘checked in’ for the day. My favorite Reconnect features include sending bulk messages to the participants and sending out reminders for court, groups, etc. Participants are able to respond to our messages or send us a new message, as well as upload their community support reports, community service reports, medication reports, etc. I feel Reconnect has brought our Drug Court and Mental Health Court into the future and given us the ability to better serve our participants.

When our local Safer at Home order was put into place last spring, we had only just begun asking that participants download Skype and Zoom in an effort to maintain contact with them. We were using blocked numbers, and had no real consistent way to communicate. Reconnect has alleviated all of the problems the pandemic created, and has actually made our program better. Having a system that all case managers and participants use means the ball is never dropped. We have employed nearly all of the features, and they’re all valuable. The benefit is not just for us, but for our participants as well. Because of the texting feature, case managers are more available to participants’ needs, and can address concerns practically immediately. Moreover, the ability to build a rapport has become so much easier, and is instrumental in the success of our participants.
